About Fund and PSH

Fund for an Open Society DBA Planting Seeds of HOPE is a not-for-profit organization focused on developing racially and socioeconomically integrated communities. Previously, Fund and PSH were two separate organizations with similar aligned intrests – the former founded by James Farmer and Morris Milgram in 1974, the latter by Rev. Eric Dobson and his then partner Evelyn in 2004. As time went on and both organizations developed their course in the 2010’s, the organizations were merged into one community development organization but with the fundamental mission remaining the same.

PSH is lead by professionals with skills including urban planning, community organizing and community development, project management, research, communications, policy develpment, advocacy, coaching and teaching. While most community development organizations serve communities and the problems they face today, our projects will help to transform communities into what they want for their future.

Integrated communities are the pathway to justice. Our goal is to address the wealth gap, provide quality affordable housing and small business opportunity, create access to healthy food and green spaces, and better cohesion among diverse people for long-term stable, well cared for neighborhoods. These goals are not for disting silos and narrow programming – they are all considered and built in to our approach.
